They explained the irrigation innovation BHUNGROOTM (an World Bank and UN awarded innovation for poverty eradication and climate change adaptation, promoted by Naireeta Services) is highly useful as it allows them to have round the year irrigation at zero cost and also saves their crop from weather extremes.
The underlined that innovation alone does not solve their challenges- it needs to be integrated with their existing social situation, culture and economical capacities. The result will of higher impact if it is integrated with ultra poor women farmers and women agri labour as they are at the receiving end. They also felt that innovation’s gender centricity can only be ensured if and only if each module of the innovation opens up scope for women members’ involvement.
